Has anyone else noticed the sharp decline in intelligence in cartoon shows in recent years?
I mean, back when I was a kid we had shows like X-Men, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Batman… All the Marvel and DC comics cartoons. Now, what do we have? Spongebob Squarepants, Bob’s Burgers, pretty much half the stuff on Adult Swim, among other idiotic, and crudely-drawn idiotic leaps into stupidity and unintelligible drivel.
Spongebob was good, and for a good while too. Now the episodes have been bad, but that’s only because television shows have. I understand what point you’re trying to make. I’ve never got around to seeing Bob’s Burgers, but from my brother’s word for it, it’s really bad. A lot of the shows I grew up with (late 90′s shows) were great. Rugrats, Hey-Arnold!, Courage the Cowardly Dog, etc… had some sort of moral to it, and it didn’t spew out nonsense, and it wasn’t annoying. I may sound like an old bag, but now-a-days, shows have gone down hill, mainly because they’re reality shows. It’s sad too, because kids won’t be able to know what good shows were out there.
